Breathtaking 6 String Bass Solo (with an Ebow on just one string!)

in Improvisation

This video is actually an exclusive performance that only a handful of people were lucky enough to catch whilst at an SBL Live masterclass in London.

It's something I'll remember for the rest of my life...

And honestly, this performance BLEW. MY. MIND.

Even more than that, was that Rich (yep, our very own faculty member Rich Brown!) was using an effect I've only ever seen guitar players use (never bass players)...

Even crazier than that, is that he performed the entire thing on one string...

Yes, you read that correctly... ONE STRING!?!?

I know that sounds pretty unbelievable, so I just want you to check it out for yourself and prepare to be shocked.

I should also give you a warning upfront. If you're a die hard "bass should only be taking care of low-end duties and everything after Jamerson is nonsense" kinda dude or dudette... this performance is NOT for you.

No harm, no foul, I just wanna point out upfront that this performance is pushing the boundaries of what's been done on the bass - and that is EXACTLY why it's awesome. Because without people pushing boundaries, we'd be living in a pretty boring world!

Anyway, enough of me rattling on...

Get ready for bass awesomeness!
