Faculty Spotlight: Steve Jenkins

Published August 14, 2017 in Notes

As many of the bass community already know, we have an AMAZING faculty here at ScottsBassLessons, simply put, some of the best bass educators in the world are teaching at SBL. Rufus Philpot, Todd Johnson, Ariane Cap, Gary Willis, Ed Friedland, Steve Lawson, Danny Mo Morris, Damian Erskine, Cody Wright... the list goes on and on!

And although SBL has one of the most comprehensive and extensive video libraries for bass education in the world, it doesn't stop there. Our faculty also host a live streamed seminar each and every week where our students can interact in real time and learn from the very best - without even leaving the comfort of their own homes. Doesn’t technology rock!

I’m immensely proud of the faculty we’ve created to support our students here at SBL, and to celebrate we thought it’d be fun to create some tutor spotlights so you can learn more about the immensely talented bass players and educators that we have the honour of working with.

We’re starting with the awesomely talented Steve Jenkins, who wait for it… is about to launch his brand-new course into the SBL course library. And it’s EPIC! (see the cool trailer below for a sneak peek).

Already making waves as an accomplished sideman, composer and soloist, Steve is best known for his stints with Vernon Reid, Thomas Pridgen, Keith Carlock, John Scofield, John Medeski, The Roots, Terri Lyne Carrington and Dave Fiuczynski in Screaming Headless Torsos.

Ok, enough of me telling you about Steve, here's some cool video for you...

Here's a killer interview with Steve from the guys over at iBass Magazine (check out the crazy slap chops!)

I was also lucky enough to sit down with Steve for episode 40 of the SBL podcast to find out more about his approach and his musical upbringing.

And this week's BIG news... Steve’s upcoming course for SBL is ready for release and is coming in just a few days time. Trust me, it's going to test your playing powers to the max!

Wondering what to do now?

In a few days I'll be emailing you to let you know when Steve's new course is live within our course library here at SBL, but until then you can check out any of the previous live seminars he's hosted within the seminar archive here. If you're already a member you have instant access to these right now, so all you have to do is login and get started. If you're not a member yet, no sweat, just grab your 14 day free trial here and you'll be good to go!

As always, see you in the shed...

Scott :)
