One Of The "Hippest" Scales You'll Ever Learn! (L#145)

12/19/2014

Soloing over a static dominant chord such as C7 is one of those things I found incredibly tough when I was first getting into soloing on the bass.

I understood that I could use a C Mixolydian scale.

I also knew that I could use the chord tones from the C7 chord...

Yet, I kept running out of ideas!

Now admittedly, this was mostly to do with my lack of soloing vocabulary - and as I kept practising and transcribing I did start to make big leaps forward with my soloing fluidity on the bass.

But, one of the things that really opened up my options when soloing over a static dominant chord is when I discovered how to use the "Melodic Minor Scale".

In fact, it blew my mind!

In this lesson I’m going to show you two great ways that you can use the melodic minor scale by simply super imposing it over a common dominant chord.

As always, see you in the shed…

Scott :)
