The Hidden Genius of Tony Levin (7 amazing examples)
10/21/2024
Whether playing the Chapman Stick, a double bass or electric bass guitar, Tony Levin remains one of the high-fliers in prog, fusion, world music and rock. Just as comfortable on a huge stage with King Crimson or Peter Gabriel, he famously used diapers to mute his bass strings, and invented “funk fingers” — drumsticks attached to his fingers — to create a percussive, funky sound.
In today’s video we take an in-depth look at some of Tony Levin’s most memorable bass lines including his multi-part line on Don’t Give Up, and his slick, fretless fills on Sledgehammer.
