In Conversation with Ed Friedland - The Bass Whisperer

August 15, 2016

About This Episode

In today’s podcast Ed Friedland, renowned columnist and Mavericks bassist, talks about every bassman’s dream gig.

Ed got his start playing as a teenager and quickly worked his way through a slew of gigs and bands in New York, which eventually led him to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he polished and mastered his craft.

Embracing a steady work ethic was easy for Ed, as his curiosity surrounding music also fuelled both his drive and his desire to teach. A steady stream of touring has also kept him increasingly busy over the years, with eclectic country rock band The Mavericks occupying much of his time onstage. In 1992 Ed also began writing for Bass Player Magazine and developed a fairly good reputation for his instructional articles, cultivating his alternate persona as "The Bass Whisperer.”
