In Conversation with Mark Saunders - The Rise of the Machine

October 24, 2016

About This Episode

In today’s podcast we unravel the tone secrets of Florence and the Machine bassist Mark Saunders.

Since conquering the airwaves with the synthy, electro-pop-infused single ‘You've Got the Love’ back in 2009, Florence and the Machine have gone on to have more success than ever. “Working with Flo has done the world of good for me,” says bassist Mark Saunders, who remains one of the most accomplished and down-to-earth bass players around today. “I just try to be as tasteful as possible with my playing, holding things back and providing a good solid bottom end to the songs.” Being faced with transferring the band’s percussive low end to the live stage has tested Mark’s musicianship to the full, yet he has managed to safeguard the bass as an integral part of the band’s ever evolving sound.
