About this episode
In this interview I talk to Moto Fukushima about his breathtaking technique and his stellar trio.
Forging a fearsome reputation after studies at Berklee College of Music, Moto Fukushima was soon playing alongside such grand masters as Mike Stern, Hiromi and Donny McCaslin. Yet it’s been the blossoming of his Brooklyn-based power trio, House of Waters, that’s made him an increasingly influential figure in his own right. Recently released on Snarky Puppy’s GroundUP record label, the trio’s latest album conjures up a melting pot of sounds that are as lush and vibrant as they are deeply funky. In the shadow of Brooklyn’s Williamsburg Bridge, I sat down with Moto to unravel his thoughts on Berklee, bass playing and making music with House of Waters.
