Sharon Renold

Sharon Renold is an accomplished bassist, singer/songwriter, video editor, and motion designer. Born in Switzerland in 1996 to parents Fritz Renold and Helen Savari Renold, Sharon’s early life was immersed in music. Her parents, the driving force behind the renowned Jazzaar Festival in Aarau, Switzerland since 1992, ensured that Sharon grew up surrounded by musical luminaries. Artists such as Billy Cobham, Richard Bona, Reggie Hamilton, Adam Nussbaum, Randy Brecker, Oli Rockberger, Neil Jason, and others became her mentors, nurturing her musical journey from an early age.

Sharon’s formal music education began in 2015 when she attended the renowned Berklee College of Music. Under the guidance of esteemed instructors like Lincoln Goines, Victor Bailey, James Genus, Chris Loftlin, and more, she honed her craft. During her time at Berklee, she had the honor of sharing the stage with acclaimed musicians like Tigran Hamasyan, Vijay Prakash, and the band Shadow & Light.

A pivotal moment arrived when Sharon joined the Berklee Indian Ensemble, a journey that continues to this day. This collaboration resulted in the ensemble’s debut album, ‘Shuruaat,’ receiving a Grammy nomination in 2022. On this album, Sharon showcased her multi-faceted talent as a bassist, singer, and composer. One of the album’s standout tracks, ‘Aakash,’ is her original composition.

Following her Berklee journey, Sharon embarked on a new chapter, forming the Sharon Renold Band. Her performances captivated audiences in Boston and New York City, showcasing her musical prowess. During this period, she released ‘Open Letter,’ a meaningful track that explores themes of hope, empowerment, and self-realization. The song delves into the intricacies of personal growth and taking responsibility for one’s emotions and actions, themes that continue to resonate in Sharon’s work today. Notably, ‘Open Letter’ also featured a remarkable all-female ensemble.

Today, Sharon shines in her role as a YouTube Presenter, Video Editor, and Producer at ScottsBassLessons.com. She explores a diverse range of musical styles, from the intricacies of progressive and metal genres to the nuances of Middle Eastern, Indian, and JPOP fusion - navigating these musical waters with finesse. Her work enriches the global music community, combining her passion for music with her video editing and motion design skills.

Sharon’s return to music after the pandemic reshaped her perspective and reignited the desire to create her debut album, ‘Dehidrascope.’ This upcoming album is a meaningful reflection on over two decades of a life guided by music, capturing the highs and lows, and emphasizing the enduring growth and self-reflection that have defined her path.
