Creative Tapping for Electric Bass with Charles Berthoud

Players like Billy Sheehan, John Myung, Victor Wooten and Stu Hamm use two-handed tapping so fluidly that it can be difficult to know how to get started with the technique. Fortunately, this course, led by YouTube bass sensation, Charles Berthoud, serves as an entry point to the world of tapping.

Aimed predominantly at lower-intermediate players and up, this course is the first of a three-part series designed to help you use tapping in a creative and musical way.

Starting with basic hand and finger placement, Charles moves on to discuss hammer-ons and pull-offs, techniques that are absolutely fundamental to two-hand tapping. From there, the course moves on to look at playing linear lines, followed by major and minor chords around the cycle of fourths, before combining everything in the final lesson.

By the end of the course, you will have laid firm two-handed-tapping foundations, namely understanding what to do with your hands and fingers, and how to play linear and chord-based lines. As you continue to work through Charles’s other courses, you will be able to build on the knowledge you’ve accrued in this course.
