Functional Theory for Bassists Vol 1

Starting with the basics of intervals and constructing the major scale, instructor Philip Mann will guide you through eight lessons discussing the key fundamentals of theory and harmony in a comprehensive way. The course begins with major and minor scales, triads, and key signatures, then moves on through more advanced concepts like 7th chords, the Nashville Numbering System, and more, in a step-by-step process where each lesson builds sequentially upon the last.

This course is for the early-intermediate player on up, who can play bass lines and basic scales confidently, and wants to gain deeper knowledge of the inner workings of scales and harmony.

By the end of these lessons, you’ll have gained an enormous amount of theoretical knowledge that is applicable to all sorts of bass playing or general musical situations. In other words, you’ll understand why some notes ‘work’ while others don’t within the context of writing bass lines and solos.
