Dotted Quarter-Note Rhythms
Summary
As a start to Level 03 in this program, instructor Ian Martin Allison will teach you just one more essential rhythm to add to your musical tool kit: the dotted quarter note.
We’ll then take that rhythm and apply it to two very different types of songs. One is a Brazilian-style Bossa Nova, inspired by the famous tune by Horace Silver called “Song for My Father”. The other is kind of a mashup of the classic “Werewolves of London” and “Sweet Home Alabama” (that we’re calling “Sweet Home South London”).
By the end of this course you will have learned another indispensable rhythm, but also the bass lines to a couple of absolute classics.
