Eighth-Note Rhythms

This first course of Level 02 is all about eighth-note rhythms, teaching you the most common groupings that these notes tend to fall into, but also putting everything that was learned in Beginners Level 01 into practice.

To start off, instructor Ian Martin Allison will break these rhythms down into simple form with an exercise that shows how all of the rhythmic subdivisions work together. Then we’ll put these concepts into use with a song inspired by the band Weezer, and another in the style of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
