Playing with a Pick!
Summary
It’s a question that’s discussed and debated all of the time within our community: should bassists learn to play with a pick? The answer is YES! And this is a perfect introduction, or ‘crash course’ to the technique.
So far, we’ve only used our fingers within this Learning Pathway, so now Ian will show you the ins-and-outs of how to get started playing with a pick efficiently, plus talk a bit about WHY it’s an important skill to learn.
The course contains a few basic exercises to get you started, but then moves on to incorporate picking in two songs: one inspired by the rock group Smashing Pumpkins, and then another along the lines of “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson, with a touch of the Police.
