Bossa nova is a style of music that originally evolved from a blend of Brazilian samba with “cool jazz” from the US in the late 1950s and 1960s. It gained massive popularity around that time with hit songs like “The Girl from Ipanema” and “Desafinado” that remain perennial standards at gigs and jam sessions around the world. If you play out either professionally or semi-professionally, you will at some point have to play a bossa nova. (Most likely more than a few times!) So, don’t get caught not knowing what to do... This song project will show you what you need to know to play this style of music.
