Ian Stewart

Born and raised in Syracuse NY, Ian received a BM in Jazz Studies in 2008 from the State University of New York before relocating to Chicago, where he would remain until 2013. Some of Ian’s best known projects to date have seen him perform alongside the likes of Gerardo Contino, Gabriela Anders, Los Hacheros and countless other greats from the Latin music scene. From his early days amid Chicago’s Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble, to his partnership with MoonJune Records artists, Marbin, Ian is a bassist well travelled.

Ian is also a contributing writer to Timba.com where he covers the latest in concerts and album releases in the NYC area. In March of 2015, Ian released “The John Benítez Bass Method Volume 1- Freedom in the Clave: A Rhythmic Approach to Bass Playing” in collaboration with the great John Benítez.
